The office is generally where money is made, so it’s clearly important. Plus, if you are working an eight-hour workday(or sometimes even more), well, that’s a third of your life, so make it worth.
Believe it or not, the way you arrange your office furniture and what you choose for your decorations has a great impact on your business as well as to your well-being.
If you want to make some changes, here are some useful tips:
Chose The Right Desk
A bad chosen desk makes for risky business. You should go for something solid. Think about how much work you do at your desk — it symbolizes the foundation of your business. Make sure it’s practical, with the proper amount of drawers and storage.
Make Proper Desk Position
How is your desk positioned? Always, be power-player who has a view of the door. Never see the person’s back to the people that are entering the office. This is called the “command position.”
The idea is that we want to know what’s coming towards us. It gives us “command” of our situation. So if your office allows for a view of the entrance, position it that way, or “cure” it with a mirror placed where you can at least get a view of it.
Organize Your Desk
No one has 100% neat and tidy desk all the time. Creative types don’t always work that way, and need a bit of disorder to get the juices flowing.
However, there’s no excuse for huge piles of paperwork, files that are way outdated, and random items that don’t seem to have a home. Those things are just going to drain your energy after a while.
Have Proper Light
Natural light is essential. If it is possible, use LED lightning in your office in any way possible, especially those that mimic natural light. It is better for eyes as well.Fluorescent lights flicker can exhaust you.
Make sure you step outside frequently throughout the day(as lunch break or else if possible).
Add Personal Items
Adding a personal touch to your office is a must, if you want to feel like what you’re working on has purpose! Make sure the images are uplifting, and bonus points for images that support your career path in some way, however symbolic it may be.
Remember, everything is energy, including the objects in your space. They have the power to affect you positively or negatively. Symbolic power symbols and furniture arrangement can make all the difference in your career.
