Pet As Our Companion
Having a pet is the best decision you’ve ever made for yourself.
Whenever you are feeling down they are there for you. Felling sad or having a bad mood will be history in your lives.
They will always draw a smile upon your face, no matter how miserable or stressed you feel.
That’s the case with me.
My dog is cheering me up whenever I am feeling”blue”… she waives with her lavish tale and hugs me for 5 min standing on her feet whenever I come home from work.
In such moment the feelings within me are purely indescribable.
Pets are great for maintaining healthy body, mind and spirit. You wonder how? This is HOW!
They Keep You Fit
When you go outside with your pet, you are engaging with nature as well.
A simple walk is stress release exercise and doing it couple a times a day (for weekends especially) will move those loosen muscles from sitting all day long at work.
The shiny rays from the Sun and fresh air will both do so good, that you won’t even have a desire to get back home.
Exposure to Vitamin D helps fight some physical and mental conditions like depression, cancer, obesity and heart attacks. Walks are calming.
Engaging in outdoors activities gives you a natural energy boost allowing you to let off some accumulated steam. It makes you more physically fit, enhancing your muscles and bones strength.
Some studies have shown that owning a pet can lower your blood pressure and cholesterol levels, which makes sense since you are engaging yourself in many physical activities with them.
Pet owners have better circulation and a lower risk of experiencing major cardiac issues. Therefore, when your body is stronger, you are less susceptible to mental health issues as well.
Lessen Allergy And Asthma Symptoms
Yes, it may sound very contradictory, but it is proven that children who grow up with pets are less likely to develop allergy symptoms.
Allergies can cause people to become lethargic, apathetic and suffer from insomnia, which can make them more vulnerable to mental health issues, such as development of depression.
Also, they give the kids early sense of responsibility skills development.
One simple, warm pet cuddle can wash away all your worries – at least for a while.
They make you to focus on the moment and feel their love and necessity of being around you. Rhythmic petting or grooming can be comforting to your dog/cat, and even you.
Petting has such soothing effect.
When you connect with your pet, oxytocin (the hormone related to stress and anxiety relief), is released, helping to reduce the blood pressure and lower those pumped cortisol levels.
Pets Make You Present – Like NOW!
When you are fully engaged in the moment, you don’t think-nor for the past – nor the future. It is just you and your pet.
That unique magical moment of pure bonding.
There is nothing like it.
They Ease Your Loneliness
If you suffer from loneliness – get a pet. They are great domestic companions. Pets are intuitive creatures and will seek for you when you’re feeling down and they won’t leave you alone.
But, before you decide of having a pet at your home, make sure you can fully take care of them. Pets should not be used to fill an empty gap in your life and then to be pushed away.
They have genuine feelings as we do.
Don’t hurt those.
Know that having a dog or a cat is a long-term commitment and it’s not always easy, but if you are up to the challenge, they can provide you with so much love through the bad times and good ones too.
You Will Learn What Unconditional Love Truly Means
Seeing their enthusiasm when you walk through the door and happy tail wagging – says it all. They love you for being just YOU.
They are so happy to see you that if they could talk they would’ve told you so.
Pets just want to be around you, to love you and off course – to be loved by you.
They Make You Easier To Handle Your Isolation
Walking in dog parks creates more opportunities for socialization for both you and your dog.
Your dog makes friends quite easily and will help you to connect with new people, and perhaps set up future dog dates…Your sweet little pet can be an instant conversation starter, and also a good way to get to know more people from your neighborhood.
They Give You A Sense Of Purpose
Having a pet to care for, can give you a feeling of purpose, which can be crucial when you are feeling down and overwhelmed by negativity you have within.
By caring for your pet, or other animal in need, you are focusing on something other than yourself and your life.
Your good deeds, and your pet’s (or other animal in need), will give you a feeling of instant gratification.
And you will feel GOOD!
Doing something that is grater then you.
Just the same when you are having a kid. It becomes everything about them.
Smile Will Always Lit Up Your Face
If someone can put indefinite smile upon your face-it is your pet.
When your dog/cat does their own thing like putting a paw up on your arm when you lie down in bed and hugs you, YES, they can make you smile, which in turn triggers your neurotransmitters to fire up.
This pet-time can level up your serotonin and dopamine, which are nerve transmitters associated with calmness and happiness.
Playing is fun.
For both of you.
Do wrestle, play catch or just run around your home, backyard or whatever is suitable. Your dog will love you so much for it.
You will both benefit from the pleasurable together time spent.
And if you feel that you can’t have such obligation of having a pet, but still wanting to so do something and feel their unconditional love – don’t hesitate to volunteer at a shelter.
There are so many animals that can still benefit from your love…
