Can You Do It
Working out all by yourself isn’t so much fun, and making some fitness friends in your gym could increase your fitness success by up to 200%.
We bet you didn’t know that!
Maybe it sounds too good to be true, but that’s exactly what a recent study revealed. Society of Behavioral Medicine demonstrated that training with a partner has the potential to double your exercise performance.
Every successful fitness journey has one thing in common: an improved support system.
It’s quite possibly the most important factor for long-term fitness success is having fitness friends.
Motivation is great to get you started, but it can run out quickly.
Finding someone to keep you in the gym and get you motivated, is something you should work on.
How To Make Fitness Friends
You may think it is difficult, especially if you’re an introvert, but hey – no matter, you should give it a try!
Ask For Help
If you have a problem doing specific exercise, you definitely should ask for some help. Consider it as your first step towards making some new fitness friends, and make your gym session more enjoyable.
It isn’t shameful to ask the nearest person to help you out, or the trainer whatsoever.
If you have spotted the girl next to you has the best leggings you’ve ever seen – give her a compliment and ask her where you can find such as well.
Giving a polite compliment isn’t creepy at all, and it is a good way to start conversation.
And guys – give smooth compliments without scaring them off
Talk To The Staff
The club manager and coaches are your golden ticket to introductions to other members. Approach and politely introduce yourself.
Give some compliments for the gym interiors, or the way the classes are rolling. Ask if you can address them for some help if you need to improve some fitness moves or something else.
Ask if they give personal training or consultations in case you need those.
Try to go for workouts at the same time each day, as it is a great way to become familiar with other people on the same schedule you have.
By doing so, meeting the same people over and over again will offer better opportunities to maintain the possibilities of having your new fitness friends around.
Maybe you’ll find among them your new best friend or a life companion…
Nothing draws more attention than a smile upon a face.
Who wouldn’t approach and talk to a smiling face?
Smiling is an introvert’s best friend, and if you’re such, it is the best “weapon” you can use for people to start approaching.
Whatever you do – do it with a smile upon your face.
Follow The Gym Rules
Do you know there always be people who wouldn’t wipe down the equipment used, make too much noise, forget personal hygiene, or make other gym members uncomfortable?
Make sure you are not this kind of person, and make sure you follow the gym’s rules if you want to get respect from others as well.
Be nice and respect gym rules!
Friendly Competition? Why Not!
The fastest way to make some new fitness friends is to invite them to some friendly competition. Asking someone to join you on a partner exercise or even race, is a fun way to break the ice!
Just give it a shot.
Don’t Wear Headphones
If you want to make yourself more accessible – skip the phones. Usually headphones are a way of telling people to keep away from you.
Wearing them isn’t such a good idea if you want to make some new fitness friends.
And at the end we can only say : remember to be a decent human being, and simply saying HI will be sufficient for a beginning of a conversation at the gym.
