Where Has Concentration Gone
How many times have you have tried to focus on a task,or reading a book or else, and you found your self struggling with concentration?
Too many I suppose. Despite your best intentions, you just can’t concentrate and that is IT! We’ve all been in this so familiar, frustrating situation, and it’s something that can really undermine your best performance.
Is it maybe the environment or something else?
Your personal work or living environment plays a huge role in your ability to focus and concentrate. The more comfortable and welcoming your environment is, it will be easier for you to stay there and focus.
How to improve your physical environment?
Make sure you are comfortable.Set your chair or desk at the right position so it won’t distract you from your task.
If you you have a beautiful view from your work desk, use it to bring concentration back.If you don’t have natural scene view, then put a picture or a beautiful poster so it can distract you a little bit while your concentrations is struggling to get back to you.
Shut Distraction Out
You can listen an instrumental calming music with no distraction sounds that will calm your brain and help you focus more.
If you’ve just had a large meal during your lunch break at work, surely you will feel dizzy and sleepy.Concentration after meal? Utopia. What’s the solution?
Refill With Water
Some people forget about drinking water while at work. It happens to me from time to time when I have too much to do as work.
It certainly should be avoided as a situation, since dehydration can make us feel tired, irritable and slow. When our brain don’t have enough fluid, it can’t operate at it’s peak. Staying hydrated is an easy way to help improve your concentration during the day. Buy a bottle of water and put it on your desk as a reminder to drink water more often.
Eating light breakfast can give you an energy boost. At least try to be a healthy one.If you do want to snack during, then prepare yourself a healthy trail mix so your blood sugar and energy levels will be in line the whole day.
When a time for a break comes,go for a little walk. Move around so you can increase your blood flow.In return, you’ll feel freshen up a little bit and will be ready to continue.
Avoid Other Distraction
There are many types of it.Private worries,a colleague is bothering, or your boss is giving you too much to do in no time…how to deal with all of it?
- set aside time to deal with worries
- prioritize your tasks
- close you outlook and interim work chats for a while
- don’t multitask-it will frustrate you more
- make different approach to more and less important tasks
- schedule e-mail readings
By making the right choices ,you will make more space to focus and certainly you will get more work done.
It is worth to try…
