Genuine Honey And Fake One-Whats The Difference?
If you want to enjoy most of the benefits coming from genuine honey, it’s purity should be your top priority. Most of honey sold in grocery stores isn’t exactly genuine honey, but fake and impure one. There are so many different brands of honey in the market, that it became so difficult to differ what is genuine and what is fake.
And why is that? Simply because pure and genuine honey is in high consumption demand. Individuals and companies have taken advantage of this just to make an extra dollar by selling fake honey, not thinking about the consequences of it’s consumption to a human body.
Apparently, numerous investigations have shown that many honey products sold on the market declared to be natural, were in fact fake.
In order to distinguish between these two kinds, you will need to do some home tests to assure what you’ve just bought.
Try The Crystallization Test
Why does it crystallize? Simply because of sugary substances in honey. During the process, glucose sugar separates from water and becomes crystals, while on the hand fructose remains in a liquid form.
It can crystallize from a few weeks to months after buying. The time it takes to crystallize depends on circumstances.
Try The Water Test
Due to the properties of the real honey, it shows that it does not mix easily with water. Simple, when you pour a spoon of honey into a glass of water (warm or cold), it will fell down to the bottom, and then you will have to stir it in order to be dissolved.
In case of fake honey, it will easily dissolve in water even without stirring.
Try The Finger Test
This test has been quite subjective, since it is based upon how you feel after applying the honey between your fingers. But, why not try it.
Take some honey and rub it in-between your fingers. After a while, you will notice that some has been absorbed into your skin, and in case of the fake one, it won’t make your fingers sticky.
Try The Paper Test
Take two pieces of paper and put some honey on them and let it stay. Real honey will not wet the paper and perforate it as fast as the fake honey sample will.
Try The Matches Test
Since honey is flammable, this trick will definitely help you spot the fake honey. Put a dry matchstick into the honey, and if you succeed to light it easily, then it is pure. Also, the flame will continue to burn off the honey.
In the case of fake honey, the matchstick will not light, as one of the characteristics of fake honey is it’s moisture.
Try The Apple Cider Vinegar Test
Add 3-4 drops of apple cider vinegar and some water into honey and stir. If you notice a foam, then your honey jar that you’ve just bought is fake.
If you know and practice these tricks, you will probably never be tricked again, as you will know how to choose pure and natural honey.
It is important for your health to avoid fake honey, because an artificial product will cause numerous severe side-effects to your body.
Don’t get fooled by the product!
