My Diary – A Piece Of Past
Keeping a diary isn’t something new. I think we’ve all went through that process while we were teenagers. When we were kids, our teenage secrets were “buried”there. All of our sorrows and happiness, our troubles in love and life…everyone has written different things depending of the period went through.
Looking back, I must say that it was a good thing to do. Our diary was our silent best friend that kept all of our secrets and opinions without any judgment to it.
Recently, while digging and de-clutering my basement, I found mine from the childhood period. I was pleasantly surprised when it emerged from a bottom of a long forgotten carbon box.
And, I must say, while I was reading it – emotions hit me unexpectedly. I laughed and cried at the same time. It brought me way back in my innocent childhood years and different times of living, where people communicated in totally different level than today.
We were young and foolish, but that foolishness is something worth remembering. It made us having memories to share now, when we got older.
Why Keeping A diary Is A Good Thing To Do
Some keep diary for their own pleasure and some for their business needs. Whatever is your pleasure and necessity, here is why it is a good thing to do.
I think that this is primary why diaries are kept. It is really a valuable tool to determine past events. Historians throughout centuries kept track of crucial events that today we know about. I thank them for this since they made history be present in our lives. And I strongly believe that we should ALL learn and understand history better, so we can understand the presence.
History has such valuable lessons to learn from.
Diary Keeps Honest Emotions
I think that it is great place to express you deepest feelings and emotions. By keeping a record of them, you can re-read them from time to time, and maybe you can find a solution to some of your problems and worries. It is place of your deepest fears and joy expressed. And the best thing is – only you know about them. Of course, until someone take a glimpse in it
Great Mental Release
I think that every person who has written down their worries or else, gave them a great feeling of release and soul ease. I suppose that if it is a case with me, it must be with everybody else as well.
It is a place were you record events, people and situations that have touched your life and made you wanna write about them to be remembered. It is like having a conversation with your therapist. Pinning thoughts on a paper is good active practice. Whenever you write down your problems, you actually are speaking them loudly and you are releasing off some inhibited frustration.
Acquaintance With Yourself
Writing a diary makes you to know yourself better. When you are re-reading it occasionally, you will discover many things about yourself that you may not be even aware of. Writing and reading it can be defined as an act of meditation. You reflect on your good and bad stuff so you’ll know what is worth repeating. Mistakes – of course not!
Actually, you can learn a lot from it. It can give you a whole different perspective, knowledge and insights of things.
Better Writing Skills
Yes, it definitely improved mine. Better vocabulary and writing skills. Not to mention communication skills. Practice always makes you better in whatever you do.
Types Of Diaries
There are many types of diaries written. Food, travel, times and places, memoirs and goals of achievement are just small part of it. These types of diaries are valuable when it comes to improving some personal goal performance and keeping a track of them. It can be really a valuable tool.
Today, pen and paper are rarely used. Modern technology have done it’s thing and changed the ways diaries are kept. Some use social media, some keep it on camera.
