As Winter Is Coming
A long, boring and freezing winter is on the way, and just a thought of it is giving chills.
At this time of the year you may wonder what to do all winter long and how to keep yourself warm?
Some of the options can be reading books or working on your blog perhaps. Still, there are plenty of winter activities you can attend to and have fun.
You can start by doing a little research in your home town and see to which events you can attend to, no matter the freezing weather.
Your best option is if you always try to stay active and not letting yourself be caught in so-called winter boredom.
But, before you decide what to do while being at home, there are few small tricks in the sleeve that can keep you warm as well.
Winter can be long and extremely cold and you need to make your home as less drafty as possible, in order to keep your health checked.
What can you do about it?
Hot And Cold Showers
While showering, hot water immediately warms you up, but cold shower improves blood circulation.
Even if the thought of switching hot and cold water is freaking you out, don’t worry, you can always use mild water instead.
Why is this suggested?
Because, cold showers are often correlated with the possibility to have and to build a stronger immune system.
It really may sound silly – showering with hot and cold water simultaneously at winter time, but the feeling of freshness and warmth afterwards is astonishing.
Are you brave enough to do it?
After having such spa treatment at your home, you need to build up layers upon yourself. Put on warm clothes, thick socks, couple of blankets and hot tea in your hand.
And if you have your “babe” next to you…EVEN BETTER!
Warm hugs are on the way
Check your windows if they are wind proof, as this can be a major problem at wintertime.
If you are living in an old building, for sure the windows will be drafty. If you are lucky enough to have double windows, put in between towels so draft won’t be bothering you.
The same stands for drafty doors.
Try to keep the heat in and the cold out, by cutting a pool noodle in half lengthwise, wrapping it in fabric and sliding it under your door.
Soon enough, drafts will be ancient history.
If there’s a possibility, we also recommend to change the drafty apartment, and if not – buy a new “under draft proof door” and keep the cold at bay.
Before leaving your home, you can program your home thermostat, so on your way back you won’t be freezing at all.
The technology went so far these days that you can do it from your smartphone directly.
Give it a try.
Dress Up The Windows
If you don’t have curtains on your windows, maybe it’s time to think about putting them on.
Not only your apartment will look nicer and cozier, but it will feel warmer too. They will block small wind drafts entering and you will get a nice and warm place to be in.
Food Making Fun
If your wish was to be a pastry chef, now it’s time to learn how to be one and show off a little bit
You can spend the entire day in your kitchen baking your favorite pastries, or cooking your indulging meals and share them with your friends.
The party will be even better.
The more – the merrier!
The position of your bed is important in many ways.
One of them is not to put your bed directly against an exterior wall since you’ll be freezing at night. Move it away a little bit. You’ll be warmer if you leave a little space in between.
And how about blankets?
Well, the best ones are made from microfiber or pure wool, therefore, it is a good idea if you don’t have them already, to go to the nearest Mall and buy some.
Yes, winter can be long and cold, and we try in so many ways to keep ourselves and our homes as warm as possible.
We hope these small and simple tricks can make you finally enjoy wintertime without fear of being freezing in your own home!
