It is no secret that our thoughts influence our effectiveness, our feelings and clarity of our mind. They can significantly affect the quality of our lives. Therefore, having great mental skills is not a pure luxury – it has become a life necessity.
As we are living in fast forward societies and we constantly are overwhelmed with lot of information, our mind starts acting confused. It creates some kind of fogginess as being unable to process all driven data to it.
We’re all humans of this Planet trying to achieve so many great things in life. But,with a troubled mind it seems to be impossible and difficult. The only thing to to in order to clear your troubled mind is – to calm your mind.
How to do it?
Here are couple of ways that neuroscientists say you can clear your troubled mind with ease.
Mindfulness means maintaining awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment. It also involves acceptance, meaning that we do pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them,without believing in them.
When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future. Studies have shown that practicing mindfulness, even for just a few weeks, can bring a variety of physical, psychological, and social benefits.
2.State Of Meditation
This is one of the best ways to calm and clear troubled mind. Meditation is state of thoughtless awareness. Not an act of doing – but an act of awareness. There are several approaches to meditation, where you consciously are observing your thoughts and letting them go by.
Meditation is by far one of the most effective ways to release stress.
3.What Is Thought Suppression?
Thought suppression is when an individual consciously attempts to stop thinking about a particular thought.This is what a lot of people do naturally.
When your mind is full of thoughts, bad ones are starting their way up which is not a very pleasant feeling to have. Through strong willpower, you suppress them back deep into you where they can’t annoy you anymore.
Suppression is a way of consciously ignoring something that is bothering you and messing with your mind. More often, this doesn’t always work.
Your mind is acting like a glass that can overfill in time and cause more harm than good. You have to remember that each person is different, and this strategy just might work better for you if you have greater control over your emotions.
4.What Is Thought Substitution?
It is a quick technique to help you with the intrusive negative thoughts and worry, that often accompany panic disorder, anxiety and agoraphobia. It is also called –thought stopping.
The basis of this technique is that you consciously stop thoughts when you are experiencing repeated negative, unnecessary or disturbed thoughts. You replace the negative thought with something more positive and realistic, by creating a brand new memory. The idea behind thought substitution is that it will make you happier at the moment.
Also note that this can be taken to an extreme level. Some people might even construct their entire lives in their minds, and get severely detached with reality they live in by forgetting what’s real and what’s not.
This technique is good and will do good only if you have a strong imagination, high willpower and great awareness skills.
5.Distraction As Technique To Clear Your Mind
Distraction is a way that people can forget about negative thoughts that are creating stress and anxiety. Distraction relies on an outside stimulation in order to detour attention away from bad thoughts.
There are many ways do distract your self by focusing on friends, going out, practicing some sports, or focus on hobbies you already have.
It is a good way to distract from yourself and to put your thoughts aside for a while. Whatever the case, distractions are another great way to clear a troubled mind.
The more you practice these techniques, the better they will work. At the beginning, it can be really difficult to shift your thoughts. But with practice, thought stopping and distraction will become natural to you and will help you find the freedom you are aiming to, from all that negative self-talk.
