Christmas Has Arrived
Well, here it comes again. That special time of the year when we all summarize the results of the current year that is going by. December has arrived in full Winter splendor and has bring with it all the joys of Christmas.
But,we have to ask ourselves : What is the real meaning of Christmas?
Is it for the gifts under the tree, or the lights sparkling on our windows and front yards, or the wishing well cards cards lying in the mail boxes, dinners with family and friends, stockings hanging on the fireplace ?
Is this all Christmas stands for? Christmas suppose to be a season of great joy. It is a time of God showing His great love for us.
For many people, it can be a time of sorrow. Maybe they are not so financially blessed and don’t have the extra money to buy presents for their children, family or friends.
Many are sad at Christmas time when they draw upon memories of the loved ones who are not present in this life anymore… or think of their loved ones who will not be able to come home for celebrations for various reasons…yet…
Is The Soul Uplifting Forgotten
Christmas is supposed to be the time of year where we celebrate the birth of Christ. But, unfortunately, it has become a commercial holiday, rather than a religious one.
Yes ,we all DO live in modern consumption societies where profit is more important than soul searching. Unfortunately.
Today,it is mostly known as a time for businesses to make an extra dollar, for people to give gifts, for the parties – you name it.
The “reason for the season” is supposed to be about Jesus, not gifts and not only for the parties. Of course, having celebrations and attending parties is not wrong thing to do. It’s just that the meaning of Christmas is supposed to be a recognition and appreciation of the birth of the ONE…
As we are getting older, we realize that there’s more to it than presents. It should be time of true meaningful gatherings, remembering why we ARE and why we NEED to embrace LOVE and SHARING as our guiding star.
We should all become truly generous givers. Sharing love among each other and means to those who are in great need. That should be the true spirit of Christmas. Celebration of the ESSENTIALS in life.
“More blessed to give than to receive”-said Jesus.
How To Remember True Meaning Of Christmas
Light A Candle
The constantly burning flame is a potent symbol of life in the heart of Winter – symbolism of holding back the darkness…
On the first Sunday of Advent, some people carry home a taper that has been lit from their church’s Advent candle. They keep it burning until Christmas Day using a series of candles.
Keep your Christmas flame on the table during family meals. You might want to follow the tradition of lighting three more candles — one for each week of Advent until Christmas comes.
Make something as a worthy cause. Make a donation to an organization you would like to support.
Give Useful Gifts
When you are buying gifts, make them useful to be. Don’t buy just because. You have served on a platter so many original ideas to pick for such gifts. Choose wisely.
Say Goodbuy To Your Past And Hello To Your Future
Put your past behind you. Unload your shoulders and feel the easiness. Look forward to the future and welcome it with a smile.
Read Meaningful Books Or Watch Meaningful Movies
It is how you’ll put yourself a bit “down to earth”. Being grounded and aware is the best thing you can do for yourself and others. It is so good to give your kids to read meaningful books or to watch together meaningful movies so you can talk it over later and extract what the point IS.
You’ll give them such good lessons and open mind to think.
Christmas Eve-Keep It Simple
When keeping it simple, you do not over-stress about the food menu. You can arrange with your friends or family members, each to bring along their favorite food so everyone’s taste will be satisfied. And it will unload your shoulders from the exhausting dinner preps.
Go To Church
Yes, it is the place where you’ll get reminded what Christmas stands for…LOVE!
