Relations In General
Everyday we put ourselves in some kind of relations, whether it is our family, friends, neighbors or our fellow co-workers. It is an inevitable and normal everyday interaction among people.
But how we interact and make quality relations, depends on many factors such as communication skills, motivation, responsibility awareness and empathy within.
Good Working Environment
Most of their lives people spend in their workplaces struggling with too many complicated, frustrating situations or crazy deadlines. Along the way, they put themselves in many interactive situations where some people’s characteristics can’t pass un-noticely.
Our work can be more enjoyable if we have good relationships with people around us. The questions is: how to maintain and manage those with so many different characters around?
What Defines A Good Working Relationship?
Good working relationships are necessary if we want to work in a friendly environment. After all, we all want to work with people that we’re on good vibes with.
This is by far the most important foundation of any kind of relationship. If you trust the people you work with being part of your team, you are creating a powerful bond in-between.
Depending on your trust, good actions will follow and any given task will be easily performed at it’s best. Creative and out-loud thinking resolves many issues during the process. Note that diversity of opinions usually gets the best outcome there.
When you respect your co-workers you automatically value their opinions and thoughts and it goes vise-versa. While working together on some project, you develop various solutions using your wisdom and creativity, as well as collective thinking(insight).
This usually means taking responsibility of all your actions. Mindful ones carefully choose words, not letting their (sometimes) negative emotions to pass on. They are very careful not to impact their group with any negative matter.
Accept Diversity Of Opinions
Good relations means accepting various opinions and suggestions which are always welcomed. Let say you’ve been given a solution to your problem in totally different way than yours, and for sure you should consider it and see all aspects given. It might be helpful in your decision making process.
Yes, we communicate all day long sending e-mails, having phone calls, or having un-hurtful gatherings in the kitchen for a cup of coffee. And the better you communicate with your co-workers, the richer relationships will become, which will also lead to good communication during your working process.
How To Build Better Relations At Work
There are many ways of building healthy relations with your co-workers and among them are:
Having Good People Skills
If you have developed good people skills – you are in advance position. If collaboration, communication and conflict resolution are easy for you, then you are great “pips” to hang around.

Set Your Boundaries
While at work, you should set some gathering boundaries. If not, social interactions might get in the way of your productivity and results melt down. There is a work time – and talk time, and each has to be determined appropriately.
By All Means – Do Not Gossip!
Gossiping is considered to be major relationship killer. If you are having such experience, talk directly with the source of it and ask for an explanation in a polite manner. Avoid any arguments. Just wisely choose words spoken. Be smarter.
Company gossip is something you can’t avoid nowhere. It is highly contagious, but it doesn’t mean you have to catch the “illness”. Avoid this at all costs!
Be a Good Listener
If you are a true listener, people will respond to you accordingly. It means you care of what they have to say. Being a good listener will also make you a great problem solver or an idea creator. Soon, you’ll become someone who can be truly trusted.
Types Of Co-workers
In your working environment you’ll meet all sorts of people and characters. Some of them will become good colleagues of yours, but some will remain long distance for you. You will meet co-workers such as :
