When Your Closet Gets Crowded
Your closet – your sanctuary!
People LOVE buying new things all the time, whether they are kitchen accessories, clothes, shoes, you name it. Maybe you have the same piece twice already, and you’ve bought one more just in case.
How many times you have opened your closets and found that you have too many items with the labels still on?
Many, we suppose.
Therefore, before you decide to splurge and to burn your credit card fully, check what you have in your closet already.
Why unnecessary spending anyway?
In case you have experienced such lack of space, it is maybe time to consider de-cluttering .
What you should get rid of?
1.Worn Off Pajamas
We all have our favorite pair of pajamas and in no way we want to get rid of them, but think…why not thanking them for the decades of use and not to buy new ones?
Honestly, do you keep such pair?
2.Dress For All Weddings
Do you have a dress that you have worn to more than 7 weddings? You definitely need to get rid of it. It has been worn out already (too many dry cleanings).
But, if it is still in good shape but you are sick of it, you can always take it to the consignment shop and trade it in for a new option, or hand it down to someone who might be looking for a replacement dress in her own closet.
Make a good deed!
Do you have expired make up, dry nailed polishes and all sorts of trial cosmetics? Almost every women keeps them until she decide its about time to go through the cosmetics and make some healthy selection.
If you find too many cosmetic items in your junk drawer that you wouldn’t put on your face – throw them away.
4.Your Ex’s Stuff
If you have already moved to another relationship, it is not wise to keep your ex’s things – whether they are gifts,or his stuff.
Past is past and leave it there.
Why keeping bad memories still alive?
Keeping old and worn out bras are something women use to keep, but from pure negligence only. Most of them lose their shape and should be replaced after about a year.
Why keeping all of them and clutter your drawer?
A well-fitting bra has always been foundation for a great outfit, making you feel as comfortable and confident as possible.
Replace worn of bras more regularly.
You do want to have good breast appearance, don’t you?
If you have sweaters that have lost their shape, are pilled and itchy – you shouldn’t think twice. Act immediately and throw them with the speed of light.
They won’t do any good for you anymore, and you really need to toss them. Maybe you have some kind of emotional attachment with your old “buddies”, but think of the clutter they are causing.
It is always good to edit your collection after each season, and make more space for new pieces you have set your eyes on already.
7.All Size T-Shirts
If you have dozens of free T-shirts and they don’t fit you very well – there is no time to think. Choose whatever you think you can use and donate others if they are still in good shape.
A collection of T-shirts can take up a lot of space, and you probably won’t miss them when they’re gone. But, if you are sentimentally attached to some of them – reuse them by making new pillowcases.
And of course, ditch white ones with yellow underarm stains – immediately. They look gross.
8.Too Much Scarves
Many you’ve bought, and many were gift for Christmas. Make selection which ones are good, which ones you like or not, and depending on the conclusion – act.
Give them away, sell them to a second hand shop, or simply go to the nearest shelter and donate them. You have too many already.
Edit your precious collection season by season.
You really need only couple of them – not hundreds.
9.Fake Designer Bags
You are just fooling yourself. Don’t buy fake ones because they don’t have the same quality as the original, and who cares if you don’t owe a designer bag?
Buy what you like and what is appropriate for your wardrobe. You can find the cutest little purse just around the corner in a Chinese shop.
Who cares if it isn’t a label?
10.Old Halloween Costumes
For someone, Halloween can be the best holiday ever, but it doesn’t mean you need to keep all those dusty costumes laying around in the basement.
Go for details only and lose the rest. Cats and bunny ears, weird sunglasses, scary vampire teeth are items that are keepers and can be always used in themed parties .
Keep the best items and lose the rest.
11.Clothes From 20 Years Ago
Really? Do you still wear them?
We don’t think so. They are memoirs of another era and they should stay there.
There is one golden rule: whatever you don’t wear for at least a year, the chances are you’re never gonna wear it at all.
If you have a chance to donate them – do it. You’ll make someone happy.
What are you waiting or?
12.No Fit Clothes
If you have gain weight over the time, and you have plenty of clothes that simply doesn’t fit you anymore and your diet efforts sucks – give them away or donate them too.
Or, you’ve maybe lost a couple of pounds. In such case, you can always do some corrections and make them sparkle again – reused properly.
Check out for pencil skirts, shirts, winter coats, trench coats (or whatever you have), if correction is possible.
If not…you know what
13. Worn Out Shoes and Sneakers
We all have dozens of them that are cluttering our closet. Check through.
If some are beyond repairable, throw them away, and if they still show some good life signs – give them a chance. Make corrections wherever possible and they can last one more season.
