Do You Make These Mistakes and Look Older
Let’s face it, getting older is part of our life journey, and most of the women don’t wan’t to look older than they already are.
They will try anything starting from make up, clothes, plastic surgeries – you name it.
Still, you can still win not to look older, if you avoid these 11 common mistakes women do.
So let’s start.
1.Becoming a Blond
The thing is that lighter hair doesn’t go with all skin pigments and can make you look older.
As our skin becomes yellowish as we get older, it’s not always recommended to go blonde.
Advise: Avoid matching your hair to your skin tone – counteract it.
For example, if you have olive skin, choose a deep, reddish-brown hair color, or, if you have paler skin, brighten your look with a light brown dye.
Making contrast is the trick.
2.You Avoid The Gym or You Workout Too Much
Skipping a workout will not make you look as vibrant as usual.
What’s the reason?
Well, by exercising micro-circulation increases in your face, and it improves skin moisture. That’s the main reason why people generally look younger after they’ve worked out.
Without doing any exercise, you may appear pale and dealing with dull skin.
Do you know the long-term benefits of workout?
A study published in the journal Aging Cell elaborated that regular physical activity helps prevent skin cellular aging.
On the other hand, overworking large muscles(triceps, quads and biceps), may cause sagging in the long run.
As you know, connective tissues loosen with age, and an overworked aging muscle produces an undesirable skin tone.
Advise: try to focus on accessory muscles around the larger thigh and belly muscles, which can give you a more balanced look.
For each group of muscles, you can use weights under 3 pounds each and do more reps.
You’ll still look gorgeous and tighten up.
3.You Often Forget To Use Hair Conditioner
Dry, stiff and dull hair can make you look much older than the gray hair peeking through.
You should know that as we get older our hair needs to be moisturized too.
If you want to fix thing up, use richer hair products such as hair masks and deep conditioners on a weekly basis.
This will be quick solution to help your hair become much softer and shinier as it once was.
Getting rid of dead skin cells should be done on a regular basis, but you shouldn’t over-exfoliate.
If you expose your new skin cells to the exfoliating elements before they’re ready, skin becomes fragile and looks aged.
Using a gentle facial scrub instead for at least 2-3 times per week is enough.
5.You’re Still Using Old Bras
Unfortunately, many women are still wearing the same size of bras they’ve always worn, without considering that our bodies change as we age.
If you want to get a little “push” in the area, you should definitely visit a lingerie store to get professionally fitted.
A perfectly fitted bra can almost instantly improve your posture and make you look fit.
6.You Prefer Coffee Rather Than Water
Staying hydrated is the main key for having glowing skin, so you better double your water intake.
Try to have 8 glasses of water per day, and don’t overdo with coffee or alcohol, which have a diuretic effect.
Staying hydrated is the key to make your skin look fuller and younger.
7.Using Heavy Eyeliner
Can make up make you look older?
Yes it can.
Using heavy eyeliner can make eyes appear smaller, which can add years on your face, and highlight wrinkles around your eyes.
Instead, use a soft pencil that easily can be blended after applied.
Blending in eyeliner gives your makeup a more natural look that’s has less aging appeal.
You know, aging is beautiful if you know how to handle it with dignity by accepting it, and not overdoing your young lookalike appeal.
Stay easy on using foundation as well.
If you have wrinkles or brown spots you’d like to disguise, don’t put a thick layer of foundation followed by generous dusting of powder.
A heavy application settles into creases making them more noticeable, especially in the winter when skin is drier.
Mature skin needs makeup that is containing hydrating agents such as Hyaluronic acid to help smooth the lines.
Advise:When you apply foundation, use sponges so a lighter layer can perfectly blend.
8.Choosing Dull Colors
Don’t choose clothes with gray undertones because they can wash you out and make you look older(especially scarves).
Common colors you should avoid are: pale gray, pale lavender, taupe, and dusty rose.
Rather choose more vibrant colors (not neon ones of course).
9.Wearing Baggy Clothes? Bad Choice!
If you’ve gained weight around your middle section and you want to cover it up, choosing very loose clothing will make you look heavier and older than you are.
So, forget about saggy and baggy clothes. If you can’t find something suitable in stores, work with a tailor to create more suitable look for your body.
And you will feel great once you see the new you.
10. Are You A Serum Skipper?
You’re probably well aware of the dangers of the sun’s UV rays and importance to protect your skin.
A research shows that skin which is being exposed to free radicals is prune to premature aging.
If you want to stop this process, you should use an antioxidant serum in the morning before applying moisturizer.
Don’t forget to look for the ones packed with vitamins C, E, ferulic acid, green tea or lycopene, which are most effective antioxidants.
11.Do You Over-clean Your Skin?
If you do – stop it!
After a good night sleep, your skin needs to be woken up too – but not stripped totally of its natural oils using medicated cleanser.
It will make your face look older and make it overly dry.
Advise: Don’t strip natural skin oils down because oil production in your skin also decreases as you age.
As if you do, the result will be: more visible wrinkles and pores and a much duller appearance.
If you want to get your skin clean, a simple lukewarm water splash in the morning is enough.
As you can see, there are small tricks to use if you want to hide your age without looking odd and age un-appropriate.
Always opt for moisturizers suitable for your skin, make up that will not make you look older, clothes that will fit your figure better, and after all – you shouldn’t be ashamed of your age.
Eventually we will all get old and we should wear our age gracefully and with a lot of charm.
